Tim Harvey Why see a therapist? Seeking support for yourself - wanting to fully participate in your personal development - is a positive affirmation of life, a creative undertaking that requires courage and curiosity. From the outside it might appear that counselling or psychotherapy is just talk, but it is much more than an exchange of words. Therapy is more than someone practicing a set of skills or 'going through the motions'. What makes therapy effective? For therapy to be effective; a genuine and whole-hearted connection is essential. A therapist may be highly educated and have completed relevant training, but this may not be enough. Human beings have an uncanny ability to intuit another person's capacity for understanding. If you decide that Tim is not the right person for you, he will recommend other therapists or other ways for you to keep heading towards the life you desire. |
